Blood Donation

Give The Gift of Life During Mid-Winter

The American Legion of Iowa and LifeServe Blood Center are partnering up to address the growing demand for blood donations. LifeServe Blood Center provides blood and blood products to more than 120 hospitals located across Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. On Friday, February 11th of Mid-Winter Conference, the American Legion Family has the opportunity to donate.

This and future opportunities are a direct reflection of The American Legion’s values and ongoing efforts for serving communities. As you are aware, the annual Consolidated Post Reports provide Congress with the necessary information and thousands of volunteer hours poured into benefiting the lives and communities where the local post exists. Blood drives are some of the simplest means that provide a profound rippled impact for all involved. From the post, the donor, and to the recipient whose life it could save, the effect is wide.

You are encouraged to sign up for an available time slot prior to Mid-Winter to lock in your donation here.

Join LifeServe and the American Legion for a week of donations!

The American Legion’s Blood Donation program was established as early as 1942.

A resolution was passed at the Legion Convention July 2019 to enter into a partnership with LifeServe Blood Center to expand the Legion’s blood donation program in the state of Iowa. LifeServe provides blood products to over 120 hospitals and medical centers in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota, including the Des Moines VA.

Make sure to roll up a sleeve to support your local American Legion at a mobile blood drive or donor center on Monday, September 16! Each department gets credit at national convention for how many lifesaving donations they help get!
