Area & State Tournament
The American Legion of Iowa has scheduled area tournaments to determine which teams will advance to the State Tournament May 3-5. 2019. Teams from around the state will play in one of four areas, and the winners from those tournaments will play in Sioux City for championship rights in Iowa. The Department winner will advance to regionals in Sioux Fall, South Dakota. With the excitement from last year’s champions Dubuque County playing all the way through to the World Series and winning a game, many teams are eager to get their chance to advance to regional play, and hopefully, the World Series in Shelby, North Carolina.
The four areas hosting tournaments April 26-28, 2019, are Carroll, Dubuque, Ottumwa, and Ames. For list of which teams are playing in what areas, click here. Teams will determine who advances through pool play. In the event of a tie, the team allowing the fewest runs will advance.
Department scholarship forms are available to all eligible players in the baseball program.
