The Department of Iowa Junior Shooting Sports Match was held on March 14 at Cam Dodge. Forty competitors from clubs ranging from Lake Park in NW Iowa to Muscatine on the Mississippi River were there to shoot.
Department Chairman Gary Palas (l) and Department Commander Jim Kessler (r) flank the champions of the three age groups. Ayden Wells (c) won the oldest group with a score of 559 out of 600. Scoring 517 was Tha Dah (l) to win the 15-16 age group. Winner of the youngest age group was Hailey Asbe(r) with a score of 509. Wells and Dah shoot for the Des Moines MCJROTC sponsored by Des Moines Post #374. Asbe shoots for the Swisher Sharpshooters sponsored by Swisher Post #671.
The Top 3 Individual shooters winning scholarship are:
1st – Ayden Wells (559-22) Des Moines North MCJROTC, Post #374
2nd – Arturo Zaragoza (539-11) Des Moines North MCJROTC, Post #374
3rd – James Masteller (530-15) Des Moines North MCJROTC, Post #374
The Des Moines North MCJROTC also won the team competition with an aggregate score of 2145 for the top four members of the team.
