Department Vice Commander, Second District

The National Vice Commander’s annual post and membership tour is more special this year. Iowa Legionnaires can be proud that this year they will see a familiar face wearing the red National Vice Commander’s hat as he makes the rounds of the state’s nine districts.

Bruce Feuerbach of the Keystone, Iowa, Post 107, is National Vice Commander for the Midwest Region this year. Feuerbach, Department of Iowa Commander James Kessler, NEC Jerry Sebben, Alternate NEC Dennis Soppe, and Department Membership Chair Don Swan, kicked off the annual tour Monday morning at the Keystone Post. The touring party was greeted by about 15 Keystone Post members and several Auxiliary members. Nearly 30 memberships were turned over to the NVC.

Feuerbach spoke of how proud he was to be able to kick off the rally and tour in his home post. He extended greetings to all from National Commander James W. “Bill” Oxford.  Feuerbach reemphasized how important the Legion’s four pillars of service have been over the past 100 years and predicted continued importance of those Legion foundation blocks as the organization moves into its second century.

The tour runs through Nov. 22, with a membership rally on Nov. 23, beginning at 9 am at the Van Meter Post. Legionnaires are encouraged to turn in memberships to Feuerbach at any stop on the tour or at the rally in Van Meter. Iowa is currently in the top five nationally for membership and a strong showing this week will help cement that showing.
