The American Legion, Department of Iowa, is seeking a Department Finance Officer.

Ideal candidates should have professional experience or qualifications applicable to the position. Experience in accounting, finance, or management is recommended. Candidates should also have knowledge of the programs of The American Legion of Iowa and the organization of the Department of Iowa.  The Finance Officer must be a member of The American Legion, Department of Iowa.

As the Finance Officer, the individual selected would also serve on the following commissions, committees, and boards: Department Executive Committee, Department Finance Commission, American Legion of Iowa Boys State Board, Department Convention Commission, and Department Marketing Commission.

The Finance Officer approves all disbursements of The American Legion, Department of Iowa, and consults with the Department Adjutant at least twice monthly for disbursements.

The Finance Officer helps in the preparation of the annual budgets and the investment of department funds. The Finance Officer annually reviews the independent audit and IRS filings.

The Finance Officer is a volunteer position.  Reimbursement is provided for travel and incidental expenses.

The Finance Officer is appointed annually by the Department Commander and ratified by the Department Executive Committee.

The Department Commander has appointed a search committee to receive applications, review candidates for the position, and make a recommendation to the Department Commander for appointment.
