Youth Baseball
American Legion Youth Baseball in the Department of Iowa is divided into three
classes. They are Youth "A", Youth "B" and "Pee Wee".

Youth "A"
-
Class “A” American Legion Baseball includes
any player entering 9th or 10th grades.

Exception 1: Any player who
turns age 17 before August 1, is not eligible for the current season.

Exception 2: Your District Baseball
Chair may waive, in writing, the bottom grade, one year. A maximum of three
players can be waived. The waived players are also eligible to play
American Legion Class “B” Baseball. These waived players cannot catch or
pitch for the “A” Class Club. A player’s grade should be verified by
a school official who will sign the registration form.

Youth "B"

Class “B” American
Legion Baseball includes any player, entering 7th or 8th grades.

Exception 1:
Any player who turns age 15 before August 1, is not eligible for the current
season.

Exception 2:
Your District Baseball Chairman may waive, in writing, the bottom grade, one
year. A maximum of three (3) players can be waived. These waived players,
however, cannot catch or pitch for the “B” Class Club. A player’s grade should

"Pee Wee" class American Legion Baseball
includes players from grade levels 3-6 as
of August 1.

Third graders must have attained eight years
of age by August 1. If a player turns 13 years old before August 1, he/she is not eligible to play Pee Wee ball in that year.
