Receives Check for $78,921 from Legionnaires Insurance Trust
The Legionnaire Insurance Trust
(LIT) was formed in 1966 with two primary goals: to provide Legion families with
low-cost insurance protection and to provide a source of revenue to
participating Legion Departments.
On April 16, 2013, the Department
of Iowa received $78,921 for our participation in the program for the past year
– giving the Department a grand total of $1,265,526 received since joining the
program in 1992.
Also, in the same period of time,
hundreds of millions of dollars in claim benefits have been paid to Legionnaires
and their families through the LIT; and over $69 million in allocations have
been paid to participating Legion Departments.
The first Trust insurance plan to
be offered was the Hospital Income Protection plan, a program designed to pay
fixed dollar amounts for periods of hospital confinement. Over the years, other
insurance coverage offered included: Cancer, Accidental Death, Travel Accident,
Critical Illness, Disability Income, Emergency Assistance, Long Term Care,
Medicare Supplement, Discount Cards, Dental, Whole Life, Auto, Homeowners,
Identity Theft, and Home Health Care.

LEGIONCARE AD&D Policy to All Members of the Department of Iowa
The Legionnaire Insurance Trust
provides a FREE Accidental Death and Dismemberment policy to all
members of the Department of Iowa. The policy is free - but you must enroll to
begin your coverage and you must also periodically renew your free policy.
The LIT makes enrollment easy. You
can enroll or renew your free policy by calling 800-235-6943 or by visiting the

www.theLIT.com. Each Post will also be receiving a
supply of postcards which can be distributed with each member’s membership
card. The postcards can be completed by the member and returned to LIT.
Currently, only 35% of our
members are enrolled for this free benefit.
